Abomics Joins Fingenious Ecosystem 

Abomics is now part of the Fingenious Ecosystem, bringing the company closer to Finland’s biobank network and research-grade genetic data. This collaboration opens opportunities to use this data to support more personalized medication decisions.

Abomics is now part of the Fingenious Ecosystem, connecting the company more closely with Finland’s network of biobanks.  

Fingenious® service operated by FINBB (Finnish Biobank Cooperative), gives researchers access to biological samples, clinical and genetic data, and study participant finding across Finnish biobanks. Finnish biobanks host the largest hospital biobank collections in the world, with over 14 million samples. 

From genotype data to pharmacogenetics 

Many biobank samples can already be linked with genotyping data collected for research purposes. With appropriate consent and further validation, this data could help identify individuals whose genetic makeup affects how they respond to certain medications. 

This is particularly relevant in fields such as psychiatry, neurology, cardiology, and pain management, where drug response often varies considerably from one person to another. 

Connecting research and care

Joining the Fingenious Ecosystem brings Abomics into contact with researchers and institutions working in the field of biobank studies, RWE research and clinical trials. This opens the door to future projects that connect research findings with clinical relevance. It also creates opportunities to explore how existing biobank data could be used more effectively as part of national healthcare and personalized medicine. 

For Abomics, this could mean new opportunities to make use of previously generated genomic data. This data could support pharmacogenetic insights and more individualized medication decisions, provided that governance, patient consent, and healthcare processes allow it.

This reflects a broader shift in healthcare. Genomic data has previously been used mainly for research. Now, there is growing interest in reusing that knowledge responsibly to support national healthcare and more individualized treatment, without turning biobanks themselves into direct care providers.
